One of the great things about crate training your dogs is that once it's done whenever you go on a trip you can take his safe place with you. So, you have a place for him to feel at home whether you are camping in the woods or even in a five star hotel. It doesn't matter because to doggy his Dog Crate is his domain and he's happy to stay there and sleep there during the night. You just have to keep up your end of the bargain and take him out at your regular intervals to go potty. He may like all the new sights and sounds or he may not and may just be content and happy to spend time in his crate. That's why I prefer to travel with a crate trained dog than one that is not. Another thing is when you leave the house everything for your dog can go inside the crate his favorite chew toy and his blanket that way nothing important for your dogs happiness on your trip gets left at home.

Ways To Carry Your Dog in The Car
There are as many ways to carry your pet in the car as their are pets and people. Heck, when I was a boy our dog would just ride between us on the backseat and pretty much eat whatever we were eating or didn't like along the way. But it's much safer if your pet has a place to call home on the road. What I like to use is a dog crate. Get one that's big enough for your dog to stretch out but not too big for the car. Also what I like to do if it's in a seating area is put the crate in and then put the shoulder belt around the crate from the seatbelt. This way if you are in a crash your dog doesn't suddenly join you in the front seat.
One of the worst ways you can carry your dog is in the back of a pickup. I used to do it as a child as well but now I know better and the laws have changed. So for your dogs safety please put him or her inside with you in a crate.
K9 Travel Companions
When picking a K-9 travel companion it's important to know your dog. Know how to control them in different situations and how they are going to react to that big bad world out there. Or even that cute kitten across the street. Trust me the easiest way to get kicked out of the doggy hotel is if your dog is the one that chases the owners cat. I've seen it happen a lot of times. It's kind of funny now but not if your the cat and not if your the dog owner who is suddenly troubled with finding another pet hotel in sometimes small areas that might only have one pet freindly hotel.
